I think Gogobot has a long way to go, but it has a strong start (and a heck of an endorsement from Arrington...).

Re: Interesting Start-ups: Gigwalk, Bloomspot, Gogobot, Hotel Tonight

Interesting. I'll have to check out Gigwalk, which I'm unfamiliar with. All of the others, I've visited a few times but none met my needs, as an avid traveler. As you say, Bloomspot is interesting more for its analytics, so I won't go into its deals, which I haven't found enticing. With gogobot, I disliked how cluttered the interface is, plus the people I most trust for travel advice would never sign up for an app that posts on their FB Wall. I prefer a more curated approach, which is why for hotels I prefer sites such as Jetsetter for private sales and TravelSort for personalized hotel recommendations and lower prices than Expedia and the hotels' own sites. I like the idea and interface of Hotel Tonight, but over months of monitoring their deals I have yet to see any hotels I'd want to stay in, even with my $25 credit. When I can plan ahead and stay in a true 5-star property for just a bit more than Hotel Tonight prices, using Jetsetter or TravelSort, why would I waste money on a hotel with such a low value proposition (and usually mediocre reviews) that it has to heavily discount its rooms?

Re: Charlie Munger on Picking a Career

Thanks Ted, I'll check it out.

Re: Charlie Munger on Picking a Career

that blog is full of useful insights, here's another well-summarized outline of Munger's framework:
http://valueinvestingworld....

Re: Charlie Munger on Picking a Career

Yeah, Munger is great. If you have time, his whole 18-page piece is a great read, particularly the part where he compares investing to horse track betting.

Re: Charlie Munger on Picking a Career

Sounds like wise wisdom.

Re: 1st Place: USC Venture Capital Investment Competition

The picture didn't come through:(

Re: Giants Win the World Series!

Down with all things Giants, except Lincecum's girl, she's pretty hot.
